Lake Maintenance & Drawdown
The Selectmen and Conservation Commission oversee an annual drawdown of Hamilton Reservoir.  The program is voted on an annual basis.

The program for the fall of 2006 is:

To open the dam on October 10, 2006
To have a drop of the water level at 6 inches per day, weather permitting
The maximum drop to be 48 inches to allow for culvert replacement at the small causeway
After construction, the water will be brought up to two feet and remain until a deep frost.

During the drawdown period beaches may be cleaned.  This does not include treating the weeds, cutting trees, digging trenches, or building retaining walls, etc.  These activities require permission from the Conservation Commission.

Information about lake treatments can be found at http://www.hamiltonreservoir.com/html/conservation.html
