Minutes 8/14/07
Holland Conservation Commission


Minutes of Commission meeting held on August 14, 2007.

Present:  Mary vandenBerg, Chairperson, Steven Anderstrom, Patricia Caron, Howard Fife.  Absent: Rolf Hilbig and James Wettlaufer.

7:00 p.m.  Chairperson called the meeting to order.

The minutes of August 7, 2007 were read and accepted and will be distributed.

Old Business:
Chris Haller, Environment Officer for the Holland Reservoir Association (HRA) called requesting a copy of the DEP File No. 184-129 Order of Conditions for Gerry Smith of Aquatic Control Technologies (ACT) – will be done.

Members signed a Vendor Voucher paying The Republican $148.50 for the following Legal Ads:
Puziak - $49.50; J. Curran - $49.50 and D. Walker - $49.50.

We received 2 letters from the DEP relating to the Appeals arising from the Enforcement Orders issued on March 30, 2007 to Northeast Concepts and James LaMountain, Petitioners – filed.

We received notification from The Republican increasing the cost for our Legal Ads.  Motion was made to increase our legal ad rate from $50.00 to $60.00.  All were in favor.

7:45 p.m.  Nancy Wood and Lee Simonson of addressStreet145 Mashapaug Rd. Map R-26 sought advice/requirements in the construction of a Fiberglass Retaining Wall that is to be constructed.  Following discussion, Notice of Intent forms were given.

8:00 p.m.  Mr. Richard D. Bonaventura presented his completed Procedure Sheet 2007-1206 for Mary vandenBerg’s signature – having no Conservation issues.

8:10 p.m.  Procedure Sheet 2007-F issued to Charles E. Thompson of addressStreet11 White Rd. to cut and remove dead trees.  Motion to approve was made.  All were in favor.  Mary vandenBerg signed the Procedure Sheet with the condition that stumps may be ground-up but not dug up.

8:35 p.m.  Jim Mrowka spoke of his Forestry Management Plan and conservation of land for grazing on the plateau on his 45 acres on addressStreetOld County Lane.
Motion to adjourn was made, seconded and approved by all. Meeting adjourned at 9:00 p.m.
