Holland Elementary School 5K Road Race- Sunday May 18, 2014
Time:
The race begins at 10A.M. for riders, followed by runners at 10:05A.M.
Location:
The start and finish line will be at #28 Sturbridge (Holland Elementary School Parking Lot). The race route will be Sturbridge Rd (E/NE), left onto Alexander Rd (N/NW), left onto East Brimfield Rd (S/SW), to finish at the school via Sturbridge Rd. Hitchcock Field will be utilized for other activities.
Attendees:
Organizers estimate approximately 1,000 attendees, which include participants, spectators, volunteers & media
Road Closures:


Sturbridge Rd from East Brimfield Rd to Craig Rd will be closed for the entire event.
The following roads will be closed shortly before the start of the race until all participants have passed the location:
  • Sturbridge Rd @ Blodgett Dr, Craig Rd, Dug Hill Rd, Leno Rd & Alexander Rd (to inbound traffic).
  • East Brimfield Rd @ Alexander Rd & Dug Hill Rd.
  • Sand Hill Rd @ East Brimfield Rd & Mashapaug Rd until the conclusion of the race.(Traffic to access Old Acres Rd @ the Mashapaug Rd intersection will be permitted).
  • Sturbridge Rd @ the 4 corners until the conclusion of the race.  (Traffic to access Holland Congregational Church services will be permitted).
Parking:


An area of the elementary school parking lot will be designated as parking for handicapped vehicles as well as the Team Hoyt Riders. The municipal parking areas (Town Hall/Library) may be utilized as overflow parking for handicapped vehicles if needed. The Hitchcock Field Lot (old skate park) will be utilized as parking for media. Volunteers who are assisting at the event may park along the shoulder of Sand Hill Rd between the Sturbridge Rd intersection to Old Acres Rd. (Please do not block the Old Acres Rd intersection). Parking will not be permitted on Old Acres Rd or on Sand Hill Rd south of the Old Acres Rd street sign, (on the hill). Overflow parking for volunteers will be at the media parking area, (Hitchcock Field Lot).
All other attendees should park in the following lots: (A shuttle bus should be running from the lots. Parking will not be permitted along the race route).
  • Community Center Lot- 40 Brimfield Rd.
  • Lake Siog Recreational Area Lot- 1 Pond Rd (off Dug Hill Rd).
  • Circle H Parking Lot- 13 Stafford Rd.
  • Fire/Highway Complex Rear Lot- 5 Sturbridge Rd (overflow parking only if needed).
