During the summer of 2009 we began reviewing our daily operations in an effort to improve services to the community. In doing so, the importance of being more integrated within the community as well as local organizations became evident. Therefore, we officially designated a member of the Holland Police Department as Community Resource Officer.
The purpose of this assignment is to improve our overall community policing program and philosophy by establishing a relationship with leaders of various organizations within the community. Furthermore, to determine if those leaders desire involvement or presence from members of the police department during functions or events held for or sponsored by the organization and to determine if they desire programming, lectures or presentations on specific subject matter involving public safety and law enforcement.
We have already held several presentations with both the Holland Elementary School students as well as our senior citizens, receiving very positive feedback. We hope to continue our activity with them and also hope to expand by involving other community groups and organizations. If you wish programming for your organization or if you happen to be a group of citizens with interest in particular subject matter related to public safety / law enforcement, I welcome you to contact our Community Resource Officer, Corporal Jeffrey Forcier by voice mail 413-245-0117 or email hpd503@hotmail.com. We are always open to new ideas and look forward to hearing from you so we may continue to provide the best service possible to the community.
Respectfully,
Bryan Haughey
Acting Chief
Community Resource Programing:
Recently, Cpl Forcier attended training on "cyber bullying" and will share what he learned with the students of the Holland Elementary School. We are relying on the parents to help with getting the message out about this important issue:
