· What is it? It’s a notification system which allows local government agencies to quickly contact members of the community with recorded telephone messages.
· Why is it important? It allows us notify the public with general information and instructions during emergency and non emergency situations.
· How much does it cost? It costs you nothing. This service is provided to the community free of charge through a local grant.
The Town of Holland recently contracted with The Worcester County Sheriff's Department for Reverse 911 Service. This service will be used in case of emergency, disaster, road closures and other situations where public information is vital. Some households no longer have "land lines." For those households, we are setting up this cell phone registry in order to be sure those people who wish to be notified in the event of an emergency are entered into the database.
