During the summer of 2009 we began reviewing our daily operations in an effort to improve services to the community. In doing so, the importance of becoming more integrated within the community as well as local organizations became evident. Therefore, we officially designated a member of the Holland Police Department as Community Resource Officer.
The purpose of this assignment is to improve our overall community policing program and philosophy by establishing a relationship with leaders of various organizations within the community. Furthermore, to determine if those leaders desire involvement or presence from members of the Police Department during functions or events held for or sponsored by the organization and to determine if they desire programming, lectures or presentations on specific subject matter involving public safety and law enforcement.
We hold several presentations with the Holland Elementary School, our senior citizens and the community at large each year. We hope to continue our activity with them and also hope to expand by involving other community groups and organizations. If you wish programming for your organization or if you are a group of citizens with interest in particular subject matter related to public safety / law enforcement, I welcome you to contact our Services Division Commander & Community Resource Officer, Lt. S. Patrick Swain. We are always open to new ideas and look forward to hearing from you so we may continue to provide the best service possible to the community.
