HIP and SNAP how it works
HIP Program 2023

If you are a SNAP participant, you can earn more SNAP dollars based on the size of your house hold. This program is called HIP or Healthy Incentive Program.

If you use your SNAP card at a participating Farmers Market Locations, Mobile Markets, CSA Farm Shares and Farm Stands you can get an equal amount of money, up to your monthly limit, added back to your EBT card. Make sure you ask if they participate in the program.

1-2 persons, up to $40 earned each month

3-5 persons, up to $60 earned each month

6+ persons $80 earned each month

Each month buy your produce from the Farmers Market FIRST, then buy your other items where SNAP is used. This way, the money from produce purchases will eventually be seen back on your card (to your maximum allotted amount each month).

Not only does this program help the consumer, but it also helps our local farmers so it's a WIN-WIN!

Anyone who qualifies for SNAP is also entered into the HIP program.

BONUS if you are 60+ or disabled:

If you are low income and 60+ or

Disabled and living in a housing facility primarily occupied by older individuals where congregate nutrition services are provided, you may qualify for Farmers Market Coupons as well.
