Journeyworks Pamphlets

The Holland Massachusetts COA is a wonderful, supportive board of individuals who volunteer their time to help make sure our aging population is represented in all aspects of life.  I am proud to say they are supporting an initiative to update our pamphlets at the Center.  While pamphlets don't seem that exciting, when you need information, you need the right information that isn't all about the companies that want you to buy X, Y, or Z product.  These pamphlets were written by experts in their fields, the front cover is always bold type with colorful graphics. You know exactly what it will be about from 2 feet away.

Here's an exerpt taken from the pamphlet called "When Your Loved one Resists Care" - "What can you do when you see that a loved one needs care, but he or she will not accept help?  How can you encourage someone to accept assistance?  The tips below may help."

"Involve the person in the decisions.  Approach the person with respect.  If at all possible the person should still be in charge of his or her care.  Your role may be to facilitate decisions rather than to make them."

We are getting 45 different types of pamphlets that cover a multitute of topics including Blood Pressure, Chronic Pain, Caregivers, Diabetes, Marijuana, Managing Medications, Moving Through Grief and Loss, Raising Grandchildren, Stress, Support Groups, and so much more.

Thank you Holland COA for the support to help our Holland residents get valuable information that will leave them with more confidence, less anxiety, and knowledge to get through some challenging times they may face.

Sincerely,

Brenda - Outreach Coordinator for Holland
