Permit Applications & Instructions
Please review the following before completing and submitting your permit application. Incomplete applications will not be processed.
The One- and Two-Family Dwelling Building Permit application is for the construction, repair, renovation or demotion of a Residential (Single Family, Two and/or Three Unit Multifamily) property or its related accessory building ONLY!
The “Other Than” One- or Two-Family Dwellings application is for all other types of properties/buildings (Commercial).
When completing the application use this link to search the property’s address and locate the Map/Block & Parcel Number which is found on the top right hand side of the screen as “Mblu” (Map/Block/Lot/Unit).
Completing all required forms will help to ensure your application process is handled expeditiously.
REMEMBER to include your fee with your application. You can pay by check, written out to "Town of Holland", or pay online.
*DON'T FORGET to have the Tax Collector and other involved Boards/Committees/Departments (BOH, ConCom, etc...) sign off on Part Two and Part Three of the Recommended Procedure and Signature List (aka "Procedure Sheet") as needed before submitting your application!
REQUIRED Forms (Permits for Residential Work):
IMPORTANT: if you will also be doing electrical, plumbing or gas work, you must also submit an electrical, plumbing or gas permit (see under Additional Applications below) and associated fee(s) along with your building permit application and fee.

- Worker’s Compensation Affidavit
- Homeowner License Exemption (submit in lieu of the Worker's Compensation Affidavit - NOTE: certain projects require a Licensed professional)
- Debris Disposal Affidavit

After installing a permitted wood/coal/pellet stove, chimney, dual fuel appliance or chimney, please contact the Holland Building Inspector to schedule an inspection. These inspections are not handled by the Fire Department.
If you installed a wood stove/coal or pellet stove without a permit, then it cannot be inspected by the Building Inspector.
